Using Navigational Aids
When people travel from place to place in their homes, neighborhoods, and other familiar environments, they rely solely on visual, body-based, and memorial spatial cues to stay oriented and find their goals. However, when navigating in an unfamiliar environment, people often rely on navigational aids, such as maps or mapping apps. In this line of research, we investigate decision processes and cue interactions when navigators have both natural and artifactual spatial cues to their position and the locations of goals.
